What Is A Glow Up?
Traditionally, a glow-up is the process of transitioning from one form to another, better form.
It’s usually applied to puberty where the physical transformation of a person changing from a child to an adult is very noticeable.
However, it’s can also be used as a way to describe the transition of becoming more beautiful than you were before.
But here’s the honest truth…
A glow-up challenge that focuses purely on improving the way you look is not a glow-up challenge at all!
How To Have A Glow Up?
To have the biggest glow-up of your life you need to work on glowing up from the inside out.
Because the truth is, being a beautiful girl or woman is so NOT just about how you look… it’s all about your confidence!

The Ultimate 30 Day Glow-Up Challenge
1. Self-Care Day
Start this 30-day glow-up challenge as you mean to go on with a self-care day.
This means relaxing, taking a shower, pampering yourself, and just doing whatever it is your heart desires without any guilt or expectations.
2. Start A Journal
One of the most effective ways to glow up is to become more self-aware and one of the best ways to be more self-aware is to start a journal.
You can either buy a journal online, pop to your local shop, or even start a new google drive and have your journal online.
Great Glow Up Journal Prompts
- What do I love about my life?
- Where do I want to be in 5 years time?
- When do I feel happiest?
- What do I really love doing?
- What 3 things am I most afraid to do?
- What upsets me?
- How can I add to my happiness?
- What are the top 5 things I love about myself?
- What are the top 3 negative mindsets I need to let go of?
3. Make a Gratitude List
Being grateful for what you have in your life right now is one of the biggest keys to happiness… you’ll also feel so much more motivation to seize new opportunities when you’re happy with where you are in your life.
So today, write down as many things in your life that you have to be grateful for and also write down why you’re grateful for them.
4. Catch Up With Whatever You’ve Been Putting Off
It’s surprising how much putting something off can drag you down. Get on top of that big task you’ve been avoiding, whether it be work, homework, or general chores, and notice how much better you feel for it. This good feeling will help you feel more motivated and free to really get the most out of this 30-day glow-up challenge!
5. Start Reading A New Book
Reading is a great opportunity for you to either learn something new or lose yourself in another world.
Start a new book today that you know you’re going to enjoy. It can be a self-development book, a fictional story, or even a book of poems.
If you don’t feel like you have the time to sit down and read, then give audible a try and listen while you’re on the go. Or give yourself 30 minutes before going to sleep to read and allow your mind to wind down.
Did you know that if you say the words ‘I can’t do it’ enough then you’ll soon start believing that you’re not enough? The truth is, you really are capable of doing anything you set your mind to and affirmations are a great way to get started developing those positive belief patterns.
Grab your journal and write down at least 5 positive affirmations and repeat them to yourself as many times as you can throughout the day… out loud in the mirror is even better!
Glow Up Affirmations To Try
- I am enough
- I am beautiful on the inside and outside
- I am proud of myself
- I am smart and courageous
- I am strong and confident
- I can achieve anything I want
- I love myself
7. 5-10 Minutes Yoga Workout
Getting your body moving is great for both your physical and mental well-being. And one exercise that incorporates both very well is yoga.
Yoga is really gentle on your body while giving you a fantastic workout… It’s also great for allowing you to feel grounded and focused.
8. Focus On Your Posture
Posture is everything when it comes to confidence. You can usually tell who is confident and who is not just by the way the person is holding themselves. If someone is walking tall and holding their shoulders back and their head up, you would instantly feel their confidence.
So today, make a point of holding your head up and walking with a great posture. Not only will you be perceived as having more confidence, but you’ll also feel instantly better in yourself too… you might even find more people approach you as you’ll seem far more approachable than if you were slouching.
9. Drink 8 Glasses of Water
There are so many health benefits from drinking more water.
From flushing out toxins, aiding with weight loss, and helping your skin feel and look hydrated… so plan to drink at least 8 glasses of water today.
You can also design a water habit tracker in your journal to help you keep this healthy habit going.
10. Eat Freely
Nourishing your body is really important if you want to have a successful glow-up… but that doesn’t mean you should only be eating salads.
Enjoy the food you love without guilt, yes, even if it’s a candy bar! But always keep in mind that your body needs vitamins and minerals to glow. So, be sure to eat a healthy balance of fruit and veggies too!
11. Grab an Early night
There’s nothing better than having a relaxing hot bath and snuggling down into bed nice and early… not only will you feel relaxed, but you’ll also have a far more productive day after a good night’s sleep.
12. Try Something New
Is there anything you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t got around to doing it yet? Maybe it’s learning a new language, or trying some DIY projects around the house?
Either way, trying something new can give you a real confidence boost and the opportunity to expand your knowledge and opportunities.
13. Treat Yourself
Who doesn’t love a treat once in a while? Plus, you deserve it after all this glowing up you’ve been doing.
14. No Negative Self Talk
Try to notice whenever you hear yourself thinking or saying anything negative about yourself and stop doing it. Similar to affirmations, it’s easy to start believing the things we say about ourselves both good and bad!
15. Set Goals
Take at least half an hour to sit quietly today and think about your goals. Set yourself at least three short-term goals and at least one big long-term goal.
And here’s a really good tip…Allow yourself to REALLY dream big and don’t overthink and get bogged down in the details of how your goals are going to materialize.
16. Create a Skin Care Routine
Your skin deserves a gorgeous glow up too… so today is the day to establish an easy-to-follow skincare regime. A simple cleanse, tone, and moisturize every morning and evening would be a perfect starting point.
17. Face Your Fear
Is there anything you’ve wanted to do but have been too afraid to try? Or is there something you’re afraid of that’s been holding you back in your life? Think about how you can start to overcome those fears today.
Of course, you don’t need to overcome your fear in one day, but tell yourself you’re determined to overcome your fears and make a plan to start tackling them.
18. Compliment Everyone You See
It feels really great to receive compliments, right? But it feels even better to give compliments out to others.
Today is the day to try and give everyone you meet a compliment!
Here’s a tip: Challenge yourself to make compliments about that person’s personality and actions, rather than just about how they look.
19. Hair Care
There’s something about having freshly washed and styled hair that makes you feel like you can conquer the world, right?
But even if you don’t fancy conquering the world today, styling your hair is a great way to be creative and express yourself…
So why not treat yourself to a new hairstyle (no need for a hairstylist), or maybe some new products or styling tool.
20. Do Something Creative
Speaking of creativity… do you ever sit down to do something creative?
Being creative isn’t about being a talented artist, it’s about enjoying yourself and allowing your mind to grow. Try out some new crafts today like needle felting, painting, or even sewing. You might even discover a new hobby that you can turn into a small business further down the line!
Having even just 10 minutes to be alone with your thoughts can really uplift you for the rest of the day! If you find it difficult to meditate then starting out with a guided meditation on Youtube or Spotify can really help!
22. Listen To a Podcast
Podcasts are an excellent way to discover something new and get your mind thinking.
Is there a particular topic you’re interested in? I recommend searching for ‘self-improvement podcasts’ on Spotify… you’re bound to find something that you’ll really enjoy listening to and that will help you with your glow-up.
23. Have A No Phone Day
Give yourself a break from your phone today and do something you love doing instead. Some ideas include; cooking, going for a walk, painting, meeting a friend, or spending time with your family.
24. Clean Your Space
Nothing feels quite as good as having a fresh, de-cluttered, and clean space. Choose your favorite spot in the home where you most enjoy relaxing and give it a good clean-up.
25. Watch The Sunrise
Get up when the sun is due to rise and really appreciate the beauty and wonder of the moment.
There’s something very humbling about watching the sun-rise and it’s also the perfect moment to plan out how you intend to spend the rest of your day.
26. Look Back At Old Photos
Take a look back at your old photos from at least a year ago.
Try to remember how you felt about yourself at that time and compare that feeling to how you feel about your past self now.
You might be surprised how negatively you thought of yourself at that time… and how you now realize those negative beliefs were totally unfounded.
Use any insight you’ve gained to change your current beliefs about yourself. Think about how you might feel about the present version of yourself in many years’ time.
27. Write A Note To Your Favorite Person
Write a note to your favorite person in the whole world and tell them all the reasons why you love and appreciate them… You don’t have to actually give your note to your favorite person if you don’t want to. Once you’ve written your note read it back to yourself and notice all the reasons why you love this person so much.
28. Make A Vision Board
There’s something very therapeutic and motivating about making a vision board. You can make yours on paper or our favorite way is to use Pinterest… you can even make your Pinterest vision board a secret so nobody else can see it.
Things to include on your vision board
- Dream home
- Favorite styles
- Inspirational quotes
- Places you want to visit
- Your dream career
29. Smile At Everyone You See
Smile at everyone you see today, you’ll feel so good inside, you’ll get a ton of smiles back because smiling is very contagious, and you’ll be making other people happy too.
30. Forgive Yourself
You’re nearly at the end of this 30-day glow-up challenge and no doubt you’re feeling motivated, confident, and ready to live your life ‘in the moment’!
But is there anything in your past that you regret doing or cringe at the thought of?
If so then it’s time to let that thing go and move on
Because here’s the thing…
It doesn’t serve you well at all to hang on to anything in your past that you regret!
Today you need to acknowledge that it happened and then forgive yourself. Consider it a lesson learned and try to laugh about it rather than cringe. You can even tell someone else about it too which will really help release it from your shoulders.
How To Continue Your Glow-Up
Well, aren’t you just glowing!
You’ve completed the 30-day glow-up challenge and we know it wasn’t easy… but you did it!
You’ve learned so much about how to nourish your body, mind, and spirit and you’ve also looked back and shown your past self some much-needed love and acceptance!
Now it’s time to take what you’ve learned during this glow-up challenge and follow your dreams.
Look back at your journal entry from day two of this challenge… What makes you really happy? Where do you want to be in the next 5 years? What REALLY matters to you right now?
Take the answers to those questions and promise yourself that you will follow them!
